Party games like Spyfall that work in the same room
If you like Spyfall, the closest same-room games are The Chameleon (3 to 8 players, one word each), Insider (4 to 8 players, yes/no questions) and imposter word games such as Hushword, where everyone except the imposter sees a secret word. Hushword deals the word to everyone's phone and ChatGPT hosts, so there are no cards to deal and nobody sits out to run the game.

Try a Spyfall-style round with Hushword
- Open a room. The host asks ChatGPT: “Let's play Hushword.” ChatGPT gives a 4-letter code.
- Everyone joins. Each player opens hushword.ambientapp.ai on their phone, types the code and picks an animal.
- Peek and give clues. Hold your phone to see the word (the imposter sees only the category), then give one-word clues in the order ChatGPT calls.
- Vote out the spy. Vote on your phones. A caught imposter gets one guess at the word, much like Spyfall's spy guessing the location.
Spyfall and the games most like it
All of these hide a secret from one player and work best face to face. They differ in what you need on the table and how talky they are.
| Game | Players | What you need | The hidden role | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spyfall | 3 to 8 | The card deck and a timer | The spy doesn't know the location | Groups who like asking questions |
| The Chameleon | 3 to 8 | Topic cards, code cards and two dice | The Chameleon doesn't know the secret word | Fast rounds of one word each |
| Insider | 4 to 8 | The cards and a 5-minute timer | The Insider knows the answer and steers | Fans of 20 Questions |
| Table Party: Imposter | 3 to 12 | Everyone's phone, in a browser | The imposter doesn't know the word | Bigger groups, free |
| Hushword | 3 to 8 (up to 3 can be bots) | Everyone's phone; the host uses ChatGPT | The imposter knows only the category, or ChatGPT is the imposter | Groups who want a host and bots |

Use it in ChatGPT
Hushword Imposter is a ChatGPT plugin. The host types one of these, and friends join at hushword.ambientapp.ai with the code:
- “Let's play Hushword with 5 friends”
- “Start a Hushword room where ChatGPT is the imposter”
- “Open a Hushword room with 3 bots so I can try it”
Questions
Can we play a Spyfall-style game without cards?
Yes. Phone games such as Hushword and Table Party's Imposter deal the secret to each phone, so nobody needs a deck.
Which works with only 3 people?
Spyfall, The Chameleon and Hushword all start at 3; Insider needs 4. In Hushword, bots can make the table bigger.
What's the difference between Spyfall and an imposter word game?
Spyfall's spy must work out a location from questions; the imposter in a word game must work out a word from one-word clues. Word games are quicker to explain.
Does Hushword need a game master?
No. ChatGPT is the host, so everyone plays.
